When you pick apart the challenges of owning LEV’s over ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) Vehicles, one of the first things to come to mind is how does one go about dealing with the questions about recharging; more specifically how to best optimise EVs to be at least on par if not better at refuelling than regular ICE vehicles. Another question that also takes up quite the conversation is range anxiety that EVs have come to be associated with. This article plans to provide the answer.
Let’s look at the solutions available in the market that deal with battery recharging. Currently the two solutions are Fast Charging and Battery Swapping. Both, however, have their own drawbacks. Namely:
As shown, while the Fast Charging solution might be a better option on the pockets, it still doesn’t really solve the refuelling time problem. Whereas, swappable batteries solve the refuelling time problem but the cost to both the customer and provider is unfeasible. Another thing to note is in Battery swapping, currently most EVs need to house 2 batteries. This is done as, while a smaller battery (which is the industry common) is lighter, it also holds far less power. So when one of the two batteries are swapped, the chances for imbalanced performance is high because the stages of battery health and charge on both are different, impeding peak performance
Lower price due to reduced charging time.
Reduced inventory needs lead to lower initial costs
Increased earnings due to decreased vehicle downtime.
Advanced batteries support quick charging.
Batteries provide in-depth data for better optimization.
Real-time insights from a cloud-based system improve battery usage efficiency.
“TEC’s FlexiPack has not only streamlined our operations with its fast-charging capabilities but also significantly reduced our OPEX by minimizing the space needed for battery charging. This space efficiency has directly contributed to better unit economics, allowing us to optimize our resources and see a quicker return on investment. The FlexiPack truly stands out as a game-changer in enhancing our overall operational efficiency and profitability.” — Mr. Sundar Iyer, Founder and CEO, SKS Cleantech.
In summary, TEC FlexiPack is the golden product built to do away with the errors of the batteries currently flooding the market. It, in its current form, has shown:
To be the best at having a fulfilling and optimized first life.
To be the most cost-efficient while providing the best of both models
To have the most range provided in a single charge in the market.
To be one of the only batteries that has the most Integrated Charger OEMs.
To have the most Energy Density, scalability, and the highest first life warranty at the moment.
Let’s now focus on range anxiety. It’s not uncommon to find yourself nervously glancing at your electric vehicle (EV)’s battery gauge, wondering if you’ll make it to your next stop. For many EV drivers—whether they’re transporting goods, ferrying passengers, or just running errands—range anxiety is a real concern. Often, the predicted range of most batteries is unreliable, leading to guesswork and uncertainty for the rider.
To address this issue, we have designed the TEC Stack with the FlexiTwin technology—a real-time battery properties reporting system. FlexiTwin serves as a digital twin of the battery, providing precise information on battery performance, including its state of health (SoH), state of charge (SoC), and the remaining life of the battery. This detailed data allows for the most accurate prediction of the battery’s range, significantly reducing range anxiety. Moreover, FlexiTwin offers valuable insights for better battery maintenance, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
Our comprehensive TEC Stack not only tackles range anxiety and bring forth a better energy storage solution, but also addresses other needs of the modern EV ecosystem as well as enhances the overall customer experience.
Modern Charging Infrastructure: We integrate fast chargers with swap stations for quicker turnaround times.
